Equine & Canine Massage and Physical Therapy - South Lincolnshire and Peterborough

Therapies Offered

Within a therapy session, I will use the following as appropriate, alongside a full body Merishia massage.

Red Light Therapy

Photizo Light Therapy harnesses the healing power of red and infrared light at specific wavelengths & frequencies proven to be effective in accelerating natural healing of the body, reducing swelling and inflammation, stimulating the immune system and relieving pain. Cells that are injured can actually be rejuvenated by light.

Stretching and Mobilisation

Can improve flexibility and range of motion (ROM) thereby enabling the horse to perform to the best of their ability.
Can helps prevent injury by strengthening supportive tissue and helping to guard against muscle tightness and tendon shortening.
Can helps reduce post-exercise soreness, stiffness and muscle fatigue.

Fascial Edge Tool

The Fascial Edge Tool is highly effective in quickly releasing restrictive fibrous tissue, particularly fascia.

It makes short work of tight, restricted, bedded down, tough tissue, and trigger points.

Massage Pad

Lightweight and portable massage pad and mitt, which works by stimulating the muscles by pulsing, vibration and stroking actions.

Clinically proven to improve back flexibility and promote relaxation

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release (muscle fascia release) provides a non intrusive approach to soft tissue manipulation; gently moving tissue at the surface level, releasing tight fascia and helping to stimulate the body’s ability to re-align itself.

This is a very relaxing and effective therapy, facilitating the body’s innate healing mechanisms to realign bony structures and release deep seated tension and trauma.

Acupressure

The acu-point therapy method involves applying a light touch to specific points on the meridian lines (energy channels) of the body. Acupressure aims to rebalance the whole body.  It gently acts on the nervous system, and has been used to calm the sympathetic nervous system (fight / flight).

Certain points can also stimulate the release of endorphins; the body’s natural pain killers. By blocking pain, endorphins facilitate muscle relaxation, allowing oxygen rich blood flow to the area to promote healing.
